Who We Are
We are
a registered NGO called PLAMIENOK located in Bratislava (Slovakia) offering
total comprehensive paediatric palliative home care assistance to children and
adolescents with life limiting and threatening diseases and their
families. We offer home care services
giving medical and psychosocial support. Our services are free of charge and we
work 24 hours, 7 days a week. We have, for urgent consultations, an emergency
telephone line open 24 hours.
Our staff includes: medical doctors, nurses, social workers, psychologists, psychotherapists and trained volunteers.
Our catchment area extends to 250 km around Bratislava.
We have a Day Centre with up to date facilities to work with bereaved children and families including activities such as: bereavement groups, counselling, play therapy and leisure activities. The Day Centre also organizes a continuous training programme for volunteers and annual bereavement courses for students and health care professionals.
The hospice has developed educational training programmes over the years, which have gained international reputation and have been attended by more than 600 students. The faculty includes national and international guests and specialists in various areas of paediatric palliative care.
